Responsibilities

  • Supervise two teams -- one team of unsecured and secured retail approvers to assess and approve credit application of retail banking and wealth management; and; another team of risk analytic managers.
  • Act as a senior approver in approving/endorsing large-ticket applications and applications with exceptions.
  • Formulate credit strategy to support the development of retail banking and wealth management.
  • Formulate credit policies and procedures for retail banking and wealth management.
  • Be a leader in streamlining and digitalizing the credit process of retail banking and wealth management, including assessments, approvals, loan drawdown and collection.
  • Build a robust mechanism for portfolio reporting and limit monitoring.
  • Monitor the portfolio quality of retail banking and wealth management.
  • Work with business units in new product developments of lending related business.
  • Formulate bank wide credit policy and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and validate credit ratings and scorecards for retail banking and corporate banking.
  • Develop and maintain the loan provision mechanism in accordance with IFRS/HKFRS 9 standards.
  • Handle stress testing, including policies, process and control mechanism on the risk side.
  • Handle ICAAP and capital management, including policies, process and implementation on the risk side.

Skills Required

  • Academic background in mathematics, statistics and decision science.
  • More than 15 years of experiences in retail/SME credit, including approvals, policy, portfolio management and/or risk analytics in a demanding environment.
  • Hands-on experiences in credit rating and scorecard development and validation.
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory requirements in retail credit, wealth management lending, stress testing, ICAAP and scorecard development.
  • Well-versed in loan provision methodology and implementation under IFRS9/HKFRS9.
  • Experienced in handing the HKMA’s Sandbox applications.
  • Have successful examples in handling large-scale credit and/or risk projects
  • Understand the culture and environment of virtual banks preferable.
