Our client, a Global Fund House, is hiring a Portfolio Implementer. The role will be handling on trade order placement / booking, involves in liquidity, market and price movement Have experience and oversight on projects. It is tasked with ensuring that all elements of portfolio implementation and administration. This includes entering trade orders, monitoring cashflow relative to requirements, compliance with client investment restrictions as well as working closely with other internal support functions to ensure the smooth management of portfolios

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To gain a thorough knowledge of the mandates managed by the Investment Managers and the investment restrictions applicable to each client. To enter trade orders instructed by the portfolio managers and monitor their execution and impact on cash flow on a daily basis. This involves liaising closely with the portfolio managers and the Dealing Team
  • To monitor the cash levels of all portfolios and enter trade orders accordingly to meet the cash flow requirements of the clients, whilst keeping the portfolios in line with the model portfolio
  • To implement FX transactions to cover settlement of equity orders that have executed for the team
  • To ensure the alignment of similar portfolio types whilst taking account of individual client investment restrictions. This involves documenting and monitoring any anomalies in the securities held between different clients, and keeping the portfolio manager informed of such anomalies so that action may be taken when required
  • To ensure that the portfolios are in compliance with client investment restrictions and advise the portfolio managers where limits are being reached
  • To co-ordinate the portfolio manager compliance sign off in relation to any client restrictions that are not coded onto Charles River and are treated as manual restrictions. To work with the Investment Compliance Teams on any compliance issues regarding client portfolios
  • To review and co-ordinate the communication of corporate action requests to portfolio managers and ensure timely instructions to the Market Operations Team
  • To co-ordinate new market opening requests made by the portfolio manager
  • To work with the Operations teams to ensure that any outstanding operational issues affecting the client’s portfolios are resolved in a timely manner
  • To monitor holding capacities and report to portfolio managers any holdings that are reaching maximum thresholds
  • To monitor days to trade levels of all our holdings and report to portfolio managers any holdings that are reaching internal thresholds
  • To liaise with members of the Institutional Business Development Team regarding client specific issues requiring communication with the client
  • To be involved in, from an operational perspective, the successful take-on of new clients, and in any transitions affecting existing clients, such as changes in custodians and client departures. This would entail reviews of proposed investment management agreements (IMAs), investment guidelines and any other operational tasks relevant to the team to ensure successful completion. This requires liaising with the portfolio managers, the Institutional Business Development Team, the Legal team, the Administration teams, the Investment Compliance team and the Investment Operations team
  • To be involved in the rolling IMA Reviews for all clients of the team
  • To attend relevant weekly team meetings taking note of any stock / trade related decisions that arise out of these meetings and acting on them accordingly
  • To prepare and circulate portfolio construction meeting documentation when required
  • To work with the other portfolio implementers within the team, providing necessary cover where required in Edinburgh or Asia
  • To undertake any other ad hoc requests and projects for the team
  • Supports the manager and performs supervision duties when the manager is absent or out of office

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sound knowledge with the various systems in particular Bloomberg, Charles River, Hi-port, Excel and Outlook
  • Numerically accurate and conscientious about quality and accuracy of work output
  • Ability to work independently, applying good judgement as to when any issues should be escalated
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Able to develop good working relationships with the other team members as well as with all other departments within the Company
  • Adaptable nature and in particular have the ability to be flexible with the scope of work required
